What can you say about about a place where you step out of your car, kick off your shoes (in this case flip flops), dig your toes into the sand, close your eyes, tilt your head back and smell the salt air and listen to the sounds of waves crashing (this is my ritual every time I cross the causeway bridge for the first time and I highly recommend it)? HEAVEN! That's what Ocean Isle Beach, NC is to me. It's not a "touristy" coastal town that is so crowded you can't find a place to park your beach chair or towel. It's not a ghost town either. Only minutes away from the BEST seafood restaurants in all the world (Calabash, NC) and not far from Wilmington and North Myrtle Beach. It has a very family-like atmosphere... a putt-putt course, several beach stores (included amongst those is the jewel of surf shopping... Salty's)... several good restaurants, a pier for fishing or sight-seeing and 7 miles of beautiful beaches. My family and I will be there in a little over a month and WE CAN'T WAIT!
