Welcome to the R&J Dixon Photography blog. We'll try and keep this updated with info regarding our happenings.
As my wife and I researched our visit to the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve over Memorial Day weekend we were pleasantly surprised to find that there are “wild” bison roaming the preserve. The only caution from the website was “Hikers are cautioned to give a wide distance to the bison…” Little did we know that bison sometimes don’t care about the “wide distance” and choose to follow you around the prairie. Uh… yes, that REALLY happened. We start out the long trek of several miles around the gravel roads cutting through the preserve when we come upon this herd of bison. Though a bit nervous at first my wife gave in and we tried to cut a very wide path around them. Our surprise, and chagrin, came when the bison caught a glimpse of our red lab and decided they’d apparently like to get a closer look. We stopped… they didn’t. We moved away…. They kept coming. It wasn't until we rounded a bend and a mound obstructed our view that the creatures that looked like a cross between a werewolf and cow decided to go back to snacking on the luscious prairie grass. And we sprinted to the gate of the next section.

Good time in NC this past weekend, short but busy trip. Family visiting and saying good bye to my Paw Paw who is now having a good ol' time with Jesus. Also had an opportunity to shoot my nieces fast pitch softball game and an interesting nesting spot for a Canadian goose (pics to be added shortly).
Out and about taking pics with my youngest this morning. Doesn't last long because he gets bored quickly, but still a priceless father/son time!
